Pittsburgh Junk Removal Prices

Every item has a published Pittsburgh price, and the carry — a long climb up to a Slopes porch or a turn at the bottom of a basement stair — is already inside it.

Below are the pieces people ask about first. The quote page lists the whole catalog.

  • Landfill fees and donation drop-offs

Big Jobs Go by the Truckload

For a whole basement, a garage or an estate, volume pricing is the easier way to think about it. The truck holds sixteen cubic yards: a quarter of it is $241, half is $431 and the whole box $732. Each quote is calculated both by item and by volume, and the lower figure is the one you pay.

Photograph the pile from wherever it sits — porch, cellar or alley — and the flat price comes straight back.

How a Pittsburgh Pickup Works

1

1. Photograph it

A single armchair or a cellar full of boxes — every piece in the picture is matched to its Pittsburgh price.

2

2. Choose a window

Fix anything the photo missed, mention how many steps sit between the street and your door, and pick a time.

3

3. Carried and sorted

An insured local crew does the lifting, then routes each load to donation, a recycler or a licensed landfill.

JunkRabbit Services Around Pittsburgh

Each service has its own page with Pittsburgh prices, the local rules that apply and answers to common questions:

Built Around Pittsburgh’s Hills and Houses

A frame rowhouse in Bloomfield, a hillside home on the Slopes, a Strip District loft and a newer Cranberry subdivision house each call for a different plan. Our crews handle all four.

Basements Under Everything

Many City ZIP codes report a median build year of 1939 or earlier, and nearly every one of those houses has a cellar. Clearing it is the signature Pittsburgh job.

Basement cleanouts →

Homes Reached by Steps

On the South Side Slopes, Mount Washington and Troy Hill, some front doors are only reachable by public stairs. We carry every piece down them at the same price.

The Slopes →

Rowhouses and Narrow Stairs

Lawrenceville, Bloomfield and the North Side are built of tight rows with steep interior stairs and alley access out back.

Rowhouse rehabs →

What the Trash Can’t Take

Pennsylvania keeps TVs and computers out of curbside trash, and the City won’t collect refrigerators. Both go to proper recyclers with us.

The TV law →

City Bulk Pickup vs. Calling a Hauler

Inside the City of Pittsburgh, bulky items can go out with regular trash — within limits the City spells out plainly. Here’s the short version.

Two Items a Week

The City’s rule is a limit of two bulky items per week, set at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the night before and no later than 6 a.m. on collection day.

An Hourly Fee After That

More than two pieces means phoning the City and paying an hourly rate for a special pickup, by check or money order.

Items the Curb Refuses

Televisions and computers, appliances that contain refrigerant, construction waste, tires, batteries and auto parts are all off the list.

129 Other Rulebooks

Every suburban borough and township in Allegheny County hires its own trash hauler. Mt. Lebanon’s, for example, only takes a fridge that carries a sticker certifying the refrigerant was removed.

Several ZIP codes that mail as “Pittsburgh” — Mt. Lebanon, Penn Hills, Ross, Upper St. Clair and parts of Baldwin and Shaler among them — are suburbs, so the City’s program doesn’t apply there. If you have one or two pieces already at the curb inside the City, the free pickup is hard to beat. For a third item, a basement, a TV, a fridge or remodel scraps, that’s our work.

A Typical Week in Pittsburgh

Winter sends everything to the cellar; spring is when people redd up and hand it back. These jobs fill the calendar.

What We Haul Most

  • Whole-basement clear-outs
  • Hillside carries down city steps
  • Pitt, CMU and Duquesne move-outs
  • Estate cleanouts in post-war suburbs
  • Rowhouse rehab debris
  • Old fridges, freezers and console TVs
i
Allegheny County alone has 130 municipalities, each with its own trash contract. We quote the same flat price in all of them.

Sorted Before It’s Dumped

Usable furniture heads to donation, refrigerant units to recovery, and TVs and computers to electronics recyclers as state law requires.

Sorting doesn’t add anything to the price.

Slippy Steps Season

From December into March, outdoor stairs ice over. Tell us about the steps when you book and we’ll plan a morning window with traction on the crew’s boots.

Why Pittsburgh Books JunkRabbit

A Number Up Front

The price is set from your photo, so nobody arrives to size up the pile and invent a figure at the door.

Steps Cost Nothing Extra

Hillside stairs, porch steps and basement flights are the reason most people here call. They’re in the price.

No Two-Item Limit

Bring us the third piece, the tenth or a whole house — the price follows the volume, not a weekly cap.

TVs and Fridges Welcome

These are exactly what curbside collection turns down. We take them and send them where they belong.

Insured Crews

Vetted, insured haulers, with a certificate of insurance for Downtown buildings that require one.

Pittsburgh Junk Removal FAQs

How much does junk removal cost in Pittsburgh?

Your photo sets the price. Typical Pittsburgh prices: $126 for a sofa, $103 for a queen mattress, $164 for a fridge, $68 for a mid-size TV. Larger loads run from $241 for a quarter truck to $732 for a full one, with a $100 minimum.

Why pay when the City takes two items a week?

If it’s one or two pieces, they’re already at the curb and you live inside City limits, the free program makes sense. People book us for the third piece onward, for anything still in the basement or up the steps, and for the TVs, fridges and remodel scraps the curb won’t collect.

Do you charge more for city steps?

No. Hillside stairs, porch steps and cellar flights are part of every flat price. Mention the number of steps when you book so the right crew comes.

Will you take a TV or a refrigerator?

Yes. The TV goes to an electronics recycler and the fridge to refrigerant recovery, which is why neither can simply go out with the trash.

Do you work through the winter?

Yes. Icy steps and tight winter parking get planned around; morning windows are easiest from December through March.

Which suburbs do you serve?

All of Allegheny County, plus southern Butler County around Cranberry and Mars, northern Washington County down to Washington and Charleroi, western Westmoreland out to Greensburg, and the Beaver County river towns.

Ready to Redd Up?

Send a photo and see the flat price in seconds — from $100, anywhere from Cranberry to Canonsburg and Greensburg to Aliquippa.

No two-item cap, no hourly special pickup, nothing to drag to the curb.
