Pricing and Quotes

Where does my price come from?

From the picture you send. Every item gets matched to its published Pittsburgh price and the total is on screen before you book. If something was out of frame, add a photo and the number adjusts.

What’s the smallest job you’ll take?

The minimum order is $100. A single chest freezer ($146) already clears it; one armchair ($77) on its own bills at the minimum.

Does a house up a flight of city steps cost more?

No. Public stairways, porch steps and basement flights all sit inside the same flat price. Telling us the step count simply helps us send enough hands.

Is a same-day pickup priced higher?

No. If a crew has an opening today, you pay exactly what you would for a pickup later in the week.

When does paying by the truckload make sense?

For basements, garages and whole houses. A quarter truck is $241 and a full sixteen-cubic-yard load $732. The quote works out both methods and charges the smaller number.

Booking and Pickup Day

How fast can someone get here?

Often within a day or so, depending on the neighborhood and the size of the job. Open windows show on the quote page.

Must I be at home when the crew comes?

Not necessarily. Leave things on the porch or in an unlocked garage, or share a door code, and we’ll send photos once it’s gone.

Who actually does the lifting?

Vetted, insured local hauling crews who work through JunkRabbit. You book and message with us; they bring the truck and carry everything out.

What about parking on a narrow street?

Tell us if the street is one lane with parking on one side, or if there’s an alley behind the house. Crews plan where to stop before they arrive.

Do you run in snow and ice?

Yes. From December through March we plan around slippy steps and suggest morning windows when outdoor stairs are involved.

What We Haul

Can you take an old TV or computer?

Yes. Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act keeps TVs and computers out of curbside trash, so each one goes to an electronics recycler. A mid-size set is $68; see how the law works.

Will you remove a refrigerator the City won’t collect?

Yes, for $164. Refrigerant is recovered before the metal is recycled, which is why curbside programs turn these down.

Do you haul remodel debris?

Yes — drywall, old cabinets, flooring and fixtures from rowhouse rehabs. City curbside collection doesn’t take construction waste at all. See debris removal.

What about paint and chemicals?

Household hazardous waste like paint thinner, pesticides and chemicals isn’t something we carry. The Pennsylvania Resources Council runs collection events for those.

Where does the rest of it end up?

Furniture that still has life in it is donated first, appliances go to refrigerant recovery and scrap, electronics to recyclers, and whatever’s left to a licensed landfill.

Local Pickup Rules

Does the City of Pittsburgh pick up furniture?

Yes, up to two bulky items a week on your regular collection day, placed out between 6 p.m. the night before and 6 a.m. Beyond two pieces, the City charges an hourly rate for a special pickup. The full comparison.

My mail says Pittsburgh — am I in the City?

Not necessarily. ZIP codes such as those for Mt. Lebanon, Penn Hills, Ross and Upper St. Clair carry a Pittsburgh mailing address, but those are suburbs with their own trash contracts and rules.

Which places do you cover?

All of Allegheny County plus the surrounding towns within about 30 miles — Cranberry, Wexford, Canonsburg, Washington, Murrysville, Greensburg, New Kensington and the Beaver County river towns among them. See the full list.
